Model:
Infantry draws inspiration from the American military service boots of the 1940s. We were drawn to their full, rounded toes, straightforward uppers, and the character they acquire through years of wear.
Those references became the starting point for an original Iron Boots design, developed around our Godfather-Anatomical last.
The Godfather-Anatomical Last
The Godfather-Anatomical last takes cues from the anatomical forefoot of vintage M-43 boots and the shaping of WWII-era paratrooper footwear.
A spacious toe box follows the natural outline of the foot, paired with a closely shaped heel. Pronounced toe spring and a moderate arch profile complete the silhouette: full through the forefoot, neatly drawn through the waist and heel.
The result is a quiet kind of beauty, with balanced proportions and a distinctly military character.
Three-Piece Bellows Tongue
A small detail with a long history.
The bellows tongue was already an established shoemaking technique before the First World War. Used in early military footwear, its folding sides helped close the openings behind the laces, providing a barrier against the elements while allowing the boot to open for entry.
Infantry carries this practical idea forward with a three-piece construction: a substantial central leather tongue joined to two separately cut and stitched side gussets.
Making these pieces separately lets us choose the leather for each role. The central tongue retains its structure over the instep, while the more supple side panels fold neatly beneath the lacing and help keep dust and debris out.
It is a traditional approach, thoughtfully worked into Infantry’s pattern for everyday wear.

About Bootmaker
About Bootmaker
All Iron Boots are fully handmade by our bootmaker Kai and 5 teammates together in a small studio at Guangzhou. They are built in handwelt or hand stitchdown, with channelled insole construction, which are stronger and last longer than normal Goodyear welted shoes/boots made by machines. Each pair is 100% hand welted, hand last, hand bottomed, and also hand-sewn outsole stitch.

Lead Time
Lead Time
Current lead time is around 3-5 months (orders from Mar. - Oct.)
Due to Lunar New Year holiday break and end of year surge, orders from Nov. - Feb. can take around 6, or even 9 months to finish.
FYI, lead time is just an estimate, which means the actual lead time can be shorter or longer. We don't accept cancel / refund for MTO orders, even it takes longer than the estimated lead time. But if you have already waited more than the estimated lead time, you can reach out to us. We will investigate what has happened, and try everything we can to make things right. Normally, rare size/width would take longer by default, like size 14, or width EE etc.
Unfortunately it's just the natural of how customized stuff is made in a small workshop. If that's a deal breaker, you can take a look of our Ready To Wear collection instead.
